Seldom are cigars that have been highly demanded by cigar enthusiasts since its inception, and Bolivar is part of the few to share this distinction. Starting out during the early 1900s, the brand sought the help of Daniel Nunez, famed cigar maker, to rekindle the smoothness and creaminess of Cuban cigars. For that, he used different filler tobaccos to capture the richness of a proud cigar and is held by a Connecticut binder. The combination is neatly packed by a San Augustine wrapper that also lends its spicy quality.

Majority of the Bolivar cigars have experienced success in smoking circles. The construction, pre-light aroma and burn help strengthen its cause. Although the smoke does boast the necessary spices and woodiness found on most Cuban cigars, they do not come off as overpowering, which happens to be a good thing. The main gripe about the cigar is that the mild taste may come off as average to some who prefer a finer-tasting smoke. Still, most will find Bolivar as an adequate representation of Cuban cigars before its time.
