Review
The Casa Magna Colorado Extraordinarios make a great first impression. The colorado wrapper on this 7 x 58 perfecto stick is saturated with oil and glistens, enhancing the rich ruddy color of the cigar. It is is simply gorgeous. Casa Magna is a joint endeavor between Manuel Quesada, maker of Fonseca and the founder of MATASA, and Nestor Plasencia, possibly Central America’s largest cigar tobacco producer.
This top notch Nicaraguans opens up with a peppery blast that eventually fades but doesn't completely disappear. The excellent Nicaraguan Colorado wrapper has a sweet and hickory-like aroma.
This complex, medium bodied cigar then serves up a range of different flavors, ranging from leather, some woody spice, and a touch of caramel. Coffee is the primary flavor in the last third with a slight rise in the caramel accents before diving back to earth with a peppery flourish. The finish grows substantially and leaves an aftertaste of earth, char, and pepper.
The sweet hickory-caramel aroma would appear from time to time adding yet another layer to this impressively complex cigar. The slow burn went a little off kilter from time to time, but never needed correction. The only disappointment is the somewhat tight draw. But factor in its price, its superb appearance and complexity; Casa Magna Colorado Extraordinario is a cigar that you will truly enjoy.
