09:57 (EST)Excellent but expensive, this is one of the best known and thus most counterfeited Cuban cigars. At nearly $20 a stick I was determined to smoke it to the nub – good thing its taste more than justified that. Medium-bodied rather than full, but a creamy, walnutty, vanilla-like flavor (Is this a cigar or a candy bar? Well, I guess cigars are a bit like candy for grownups). In all, I find this one Churchill that’s worth saving – and saving for.

07:09 (EST)Sugar and spice and everything nice. Sounds a bit wimpy, but if you take it in terms of flavor and experience, this would best describe the Esplendido. The golden wrapper is super-smooth and the whole thing smelled of honey. First draw gave me lovely tastes of cream, with a hint of spice that was just right, and continued for the rest of the smoke. Overall, a really pleasant and enjoyable cigar.

08:02 (EST)The dark and elegant wrapper devoid of veins supposedly hints at good things to come with the Esplendido. However, aside from the smooth and exquisite notes of vanilla, cocoa, and walnuts, the smoke happens to be a tad mild for a Cuban cigar, which causes it to lose a bit of its character and profile. Not to mention, the price is simply too much for the comparably meager value of the smoke. Overall, the Esplendido gets the smoking job done, but those searching for full-bodied stick may move on to better and cheaper alternatives.
