Although the Opus X may be one of the most sought-out cigars in the market, its sister brand, the Diamond Crown, isn't far behind. Originally known for its complex and mild cigars, the Diamond Crown has shifted to making full-bodied smokes in the '90s. After years of perfecting the cigar, the result was the Maximus, a rare line of smokes sold in limited quantities due to the special aging method its tobacco undergoes. The cigar has been crafted by some of the greatest minds in the cigar industry, so expectations are definitely high in this one.

For what it's worth, the Maximus line is exceptionally exquisite starting with the full-bodied aroma of its sun-grown wrappers from El Bajo. Its rich flavor is also attributed to the fact that the wrapper is grown by the Oliva Family, famous for the fine tobaccos they produce. The Dominican filler specially aged for the Maximus gathers the flavors of coffee, earth, and cedar to create a robust and complex taste worth the smoking experience. Therefore, those who demand nothing short of maximum from their smoke will find the Diamond Crown Maximus fit for their royal tastes

The Robusto No. 5 is just about right if you are to consider the cigars for its qualities. The cedar and coffee profile exposes itself from its Fuente influence, which is a good thing. The outstanding flavors were further complimented by the sturdy construction for that uninterrupted smoke. The only downside to this stogie is the expensive price tag at $10 a pop. Although not the most modestly priced cigar, the Robusto No. 5 does have enough positive qualities that will force some smokers to give this baby a try.

Tried this one in the interest of completeness. I love the big boys in the Maximus line but with such stellar alternatives this one just doesn't surface. Good enough, but for the price the Toro gives you more.

The appearance is good, rolled tightly, great construction. Although some say it's a mild smoke, I would say it's more on the medium side. I like the taste of coffee that blends well with the aroma. The taste and flavor just gets better with each draw. I would recommend this to anyone who wouldn't mind splurging on a good smoke.

There is nothing flimsy about the Robusto No. 5 with its rigid construction, firm draw, and consistent burn. The profile consisting of cedar and spice is pleasant and invigorating. However, the issue of value with regard to the Diamond Crown Maximus line rears its ugly head. Yes, it's expensive as hell and not everybody can afford them. However, once you do get the cash to purchase a rich and outstanding cigar that will have you smoking it down to its nub, consider purchasing the Robusto No. 5.
