Review
A line of handmade Dominican cigars, with a Connecticut Shade wrapper, Dominican fillers & binders.
From their website I get the impression that this is Davidoff's bid for the younger, hip smoker. So while it's on the mild side, smooth and beautifully-made, it's a bit more affordable, and more modern in its visuals (despite the knights-and-dragons feel of its mascot, the mythical creature called a griffin).
But that's all window dressing. Griffin's comes in a range of sizes and choices, divided according to Classic (a blend of three Santo Domingo tobaccos, mildest of the line), Maduro and Fuerte (the full-flavored ones, a blend of sun-grown Ligero tobaccos).
These are a good alternative to Davidoffs and Avos. Even if you're not young and hip, they're still a good smoke, very smooth, modern without the annoyingly extreme looks and taste of Acid and the like. Still upmarket (alas, by no means a bargain stick), but a bit more reality-friendly.

01:11 (EST)I agree with the comments above, but I tried to keep the original review a bit more unbiased, but yeah, too much money for the flava flave...

10:28 (EST)The Griffins are too expensive for me. I had one several weeks ago and it was not worth the money. Maybe I should try it again to make sure it is not over hyped.

09:53 (EST)I have always been a fan of the Griffins. A consistent smoke with a great draw. If you have the money be sure to get one.

07:37 (EST)As a fan of Griffin's mild/medium cigars, I was eager to try their stronger version. Hmmmm. The looks are still there, but so is a slight harshness that I don't welcome in a premium-priced cigar.

01:15 (EST)Not one of griffin's best I must say. It's a little pretentious. It looks good on the outside but once you light it up, all hell breaks loose. Maybe I'm being a bit harsh, but for this price range I expect a little bit more than a second-rate full bodied cigar that just isn't what it's making itself out to be. Would I go for more? Maybe if I get it for free.
