Gurkha Legend Cigar Review
Written by Bobby Rica, Monday, 07, September 2009
Review
Gurkha has achieved a reputation for being one of the better cigar brands in the land thanks to years of crafting and producing premium smokes made from the best ingredients available. Now, the brand has been recognized enough to have released their most prestigious cigar line yet, the Legend. It was only a matter of time that Gurkha will have put out a stunning collection of finely-crafted sticks since being sought out by some of the most elite smokers in the world. However, one has yet to find out whether or not Gurkha delivers with the Legend line.
The Legend uses Dominican filler and a spicy Cameroon binder wrapped in a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper. However, in order for the flavors to coalesce with each other, Gurkha lets the Legend age for 8 years, producing a rich taste and perhaps one of the smoothest cigars ever. The harmony of cedar, chocolate, and spices provide enough complexity to keep things interesting, in a medium-bodied way. Simply put, the Legend delivers the promise of being a cigar for the ages.

02:40 (EST)I only tried one of these at a friend's house and after that I felt obliged to do a review. My friend had the smarts to put it away in his humidor for almost 4 months and I have to say, it was worth the wait. These babies age like coal to diamonds. The flavor was strong and powerful but it mellowed down towards the middle so the strong taste wasn't overpowering. I tasted a little bit of cocoa and the sweet and creamy blend was just too nice. It looks good and seemed like it was constructed carefully well. It had a nice burn all the way through, each draw produced thick smoke that gave off a heavenly aroma. Five stars for the Gurkha Legend.

11:10 (EST)You don't get what you pay for. Have your friend buy some then smoke with him. Bring the booze. Basil Hayden on the rocks is a nice choice. You look like a rock star and he got stuck buying a sub-par cigar and he will know it.

11:25 (EST)A well-flavored, exceptionally smooth mild-medium smoke. If you find a good deal grab them and age them, but at standard retail price you can do much better.

02:32 (EST)They talk up the Legend line's 8-year-old wrapper, but all the extra age did for mine was make it come apart. The usual frustrating Gurkha inconsistency – I just think of it as a friend who's fun but hopelessly unreliable.

02:18 (EST)The taste was ok. Typical earthy cocoa blend with a hint of spice and subtle sweetness. It wasn't what I expected from a Gurkha. A little pricey for something so ordinary. If it were a lot cheaper, I wouldn't mind making these my regular smoke. And only if they do something about the wrapper that is just too loose to smoke with comfort and ease.Appearance is good but then again looks can be deceiving. I don't want just a pretty cigar.I want something that is really worth lighting.

02:05 (EST)I wouldn't count these as one of my favorite of all Gurkha cigars. But it can compete with the rest. Nothing special with the blend, a little woody to the taste and a hint of spice. ordinarily creamy, I wouldn't say that it blew me off my seat. This is good for sit down dinners and I can imagine with a glass of bourbon. The appearance is nice and didn't experience any difficulty with the burn. It wasn't consistently even with each draw but it held on to the finish. I could spend some money on these but it won't be a regular thing with me
