Review

From the excellent Rocky Patel tradition comes the Olde World Reserve, which are premium cigars made in Honduras.  Each one features a Honduran wrapper, with Nicaraguan binder and filler.

Made by then-lawyer Rocky Patel, the Old Worlde Reserve is part of a success story that started with Patel's first brand, the Indian Tabac, in the mid-1990s.  A great following for the cigar prompted Patel to create more, manufacturing them in the Honduran factory of Nestor Plasencia.  Perfection and absolute quality are Patel's trademark standards, so you can be sure you'll always get a premium Rocky Patel cigar.

The Olde World Reserve takes after its predecessors in terms of construction and flavor, with a bit more strength and character.  Full-bodied and strong, the Olde World Reserve will give you impressive flavors of wood and spice, with a subtle hint of espresso.  Quite a well-balanced cigar, and true to its name as a Rocky Patel.

A really great cigar! It would be a very bad idea to save it for a special occasion because it might dry out. I suggest you smoke it as soon as you get it. No one wants a bad burning dry cigar, right? Specially if it costs so much. It has wonderful various flavors and a sweet aroma. It's goes well with a nice drink. Perfect combination to end a long day.

The Rocky Patel line may have produced a tour de force with the Torpedo Maduro. Rich and full of flavors, the stick consists of spices and chocolate, producing a pleasantly mellow taste that everybody – even non-smokers – can enjoy. A creamy undertone is felt before finishing the stogie, capping off a delicious smoking experience. Not to mention, the elegant construction and appearance compliments the wholeness of the stick. All in all, the Torpedo Maduro is definitely a must-try to all smokers out there.

I bought five of these cigars and most of them are badly wrapped, they had a tight draw on some parts. Some of them are tight at the middle and some just about the end. Anyway, it wasn't an easy draw. One thing good about it though was the flavor. Anyone can get used to the flavor fast. It's very agreeable. It's milder than other maduros.

The Robusto Maduro is a grower due to its pleasant taste and adequate draw. There's not much re-lighting that you have to do during the experience while the draw allows for lots of smoke. The taste boasted hints of spices and sweet tobacco topped with floral notes for a laid-back smoke. However, the crummy construction and irregular burn take the stick down a notch. Regardless, there's no reason that you shouldn't try out the Robusto Maduro, that is, if you have the dough.
